SCREW TYPE SUPERCHARGER PERTINENT INFORMATION
The PSI “Screw type” C & D superchargers have met the SFI (Safety Foundation Inc.) standards since the inception of the 34:1 spec in 1992. Per the spec, PSI Superchargers must adhere to the rigorous spin testing requirements of our production superchargers every two years. This spec originated to ensure that all competition level screw type superchargers could structurally sustain the HI-RPM forces placed on the supercharger and the rotating components of the supercharger.
Per the SFI 34:1 specification all PSI “competition level” C & D screw type superchargers must be sent back to the manufacture (or an authorized repair / inspection facility as appointed by the manufacture and approved by SFI) every three years for inspection / recertification. The date of the inspection is printed on the SFI label (attached to the supercharger). The certification shall expire 3 years from the date printed on the SFI decal. Should either of the SFI labels (two of them) be removed, become damaged or cut to expose the rotors and or remove the rear supercharger cover the SFI certification will become NULL AND VOID. The supercharger will need to be returned and inspected for “re-certification”.
Re-certification Process: PSI Superchargers will completely disassemble the supercharger and inspect every component to ensure the integrity and safety of the supercharger, per the SFI 34:1 specification. The “re-certification” process may also include pressurization of the “male rotor”, mag particle inspection of the shafts, verification and re-balance of the rotating assembly.
Note: The re-certification process is not limited to any & all normal engineering testing as deemed necessary by PSI Superchargers.
SFI Re-certification Failure Policy: Should a PSI “screw-type” supercharger fail the inspection and fall short of the minimum guidelines for re-certification the client shall be provided an estimate to repair and a written description of the issues preventing the re-certification of the supercharger. Modifications, normal wear outside of the factory limits or damage affecting the integrity and safety of the supercharger with be clearly defined, documented and digital photos will be provided to the owner and kept on file at PSI Superchargers. Should the owner decline the repairs required to repair / re-certify the supercharger the supercharger will be reassembled and returned to the customer in a nonoperational condition (drive gear locating pins will be removed from the drive gears). The serial number for that supercharger will be logged and documented as a “non-operational” unit. Prior to returning to the owner, the owner will be required to sign the “indemnification form” (see below) releasing PSI Superchargers from the liability associated with this Supercharger should the owner or anyone else reassemble the supercharger and place it back into service.
